I wish you a Happy, Peaceful Christmastime!
Personally, I'm not ready for Christmas. This afternoon I thought I'd just pop in to the nearest shopping mall for a few things but after seeing the queues, I drove in and out of the underground parking area in less than 5 minutes!
You see, instead of shopping yesterday, I drove all the way to Lagos to visit a dog shelter. Instead of resting or shopping or putting up the Christmas decorations, I lost my head and adopted another dog, a female that has spent her entire life in the shelter (nearly 2 years), and looking back at all the others that were left behind, it occurred to me, "Do they know it's Christmas?"
I applaud your actions Mara, I'm sure the poor dog must be over the moon to feel loved again.
ReplyDeleteI feel sorry for all the abandoned pets, it must be heartbreaking to work in a pet shelter. I too hate going into a shopping around this time, too many people, not enough parking, too much money being spent...
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year.
Thank you, Sami. The doggie is not yet over the moon because my dogs are shunning her. They just look at me with that "What have you gone and done?" look.
DeleteI wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and New Year.
So hard but what a special gift you gave this precious animal...it is Christmas and you are celebrating it the best way..giving love!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm just feeling a bit overwhelmed, trying to keep the peace and picking up the pieces. Sally isn't a puppy but she's very curious and likes to pull things off tables and high places ...
DeleteMerry Christmas!
DeleteLast time I stopped at the shelter to drop off some extra towels, I ended up adopting a one-eyed cat that I was afraid no one else would adopt. Walking out without talking them all is the hardest thing you can do. I am so glad you adopted another dog. Merry Christmas to you both.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas! Hope your cats are feeling better.
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift to your new little girl - to give her a forever home! True spirit of Christmas! Merry Christmas to you & your family!
ReplyDeleteHave a Wonderful Christmas!
ReplyDeleteSounds a little crazy but a lovely thing to do. Very best wishes for 2014 :)
ReplyDeleteIt's turns out it was a very crazy thing to do. Sally is a Houdini with a destructive streak and no manners! My garden doesn't like her very much so far. She's going to be a lot of work! When I start to see the funny side, I'll write about our misadventures.
DeleteWe are animal lovers in my house so I can completely understand! I hope they all had a wonderful Christmas.
