"Urban design is the process of designing and shaping cities, towns and villages."
I have never lived in a big city - I grew up in a suburb of Harare (Salisbury to me), lived for many years in a village near Portugal's second largest city, Porto (which is still tiny compared to London or New York) and now live in an even smaller village a few kilometres from the beach resort of Albufeira, on the Algarve coast.
But my heart belongs to Harare, a well-organised city with lots of modern buildings, tree-lined avenues and well-planned green spaces.
Here are two photos by my friend, Judy Jane (I've posted the second one before).
For many more photos, have a look on skyscraper.com. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the quality of Harare's urban design.

Thanks for taking me to places I have never been.:) I grew up in a big city (NYC)...then lived for 25 years in a small Connecticut town...for the past 16 years, I've lived in the glorious Colorado Rocky Mountains. And by the end of this year, I'll be back in a small New England town...my husband and I want to live closer to our daughter and grandson.:)
ReplyDeleteThat is one of the things I love about reading blogs, they transport me all over the world.
DeleteMy past two places have been large cities and I can't remember what it's like living in a small town. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteI love living in the suburbs or small towns but I do miss some things about big cities, like the variety of cultural events and shops.
DeleteThanks for sharing this post Mara ,Love it :)
